The Pure team who support a large industrial customer with their on-site lubrication identified an opportunity to increase safety when monitoring oil levels inside their large gearboxes.
The previous process involved working at height, manual handling of ladders and the checking of oil levels via the dipstick method – a potentially risky practice that also had potential to introduce outside contamination into the gearbox. This process was also considered to be fairly labour intensive, especially due to the number of gearboxes on site.
Identifying a solution to this with the fitting of columnar style Xtract™ Oil Level Indicators meant that the dated and potentially risky previous process was replaced by a safe and quick visual check which is done at ground level.
The new practice which is being implemented around the site quickly delivered significant savings in time and labour as well as improving safety through the removal of the working at height element and also eradicated the threat from outside contaminants.
